A brief history of the Diabolical Canoe Trip:
Episode 1- “Smile like a donut”(2003): In the summer of 2003 the Diabolical Canoe Trip was born when 30 good friends headed to the Bass River Resort in Steelville MO.
Episode 2 – “Diabolical Canoe Formal” (2004). We joined forces with Midwest Sport and Social club and ended up with about 80 folks floating the Elk River in Noel MO. Jen and Dan (married now) met on this canoe trip!
Episode 3 – “Tuxedos and Speedos” (2005): The DC went on its own for this one and we had around 115 floaters as we created “tent city” at Huzzah Valley resort in Steelville.
DCT4 – “Diabolicalcanooza” (2006): This is where we finally realized the dream that was envisioned when the Diabolical Canoe Trip started. We brought our own Kegs, DJ, and a Band and threw a party the likes of which was never seen on a float trip. The 120 DC floaters were only a small portion of the hundreds of people that converged on our campground on both nights. Incidentally, there were at least two babies that we know of that were conceived on this float trip.
DCT5 – “Diabolicalcanooza 2″ (2007): This Canoe trip was basically a repeat of DCT4 done once more at Huzzah Valley, it was again a wild and raucous party…right up until we got shut down by the local authorities. Seems we may have worn out our welcome.
DCT6 – “Unplugged”: June 20-22nd, 2008. We came, we floated, we chilled! With plenty of rain the weeks prior, we had a deep river to float, which meant no bottom dragging for a change. Although we dont keep records, I’m sure we completed the float in record time. At the campground it was two nights of gourmet camp cooking, camp fire sing-a-longs with Noe, free flowing brews, the occassional passed out and decorated guy, and good times all around.
DCT7 – “Unplugged 2″: June 18-20th, 2009. Stay tuned!
